Joy Holt Hough, age 94, of Coventry House, Siler City, formally of East Raleigh Street died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mrs. Hough was born July 12, 1914 the daughter of Robert Eugene and Elizabeth (Amick) Holt.

Mrs. Hough was a native of Alamance County and a member of the First United Methodist Church where she faithfully sang in the church choir for 50 years. Joy was a member of the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary " Grey Ladies" for 50 years and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laban E. Hough.

She is survived by two daughters: Annette H. Sheppard of Polk City, FL, Jane C. Porter of Virginia Beach and Florida; one brother: Milo Holt of Siler City, NC; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, November 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Mike Sykes, Rev. Travis Owen and Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
